Full day exploring Shillong — Ward's Lake, Elephant Falls, Don Bosco Museum (world-class exhibit on Northeast tribes), Umiam Lake (Barapani) and the buzzing local markets.
Drive to Cherrapunji (54 km). Visit Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls (India's tallest plunge waterfall at 340m) and the eco park. Return to Shillong by evening.
Early morning drive to Tyrna village, then trek down 3,500 steps to the famous double-decker living root bridge of Nongriat — a UNESCO tentative site. This 4-5 hour trek is moderately challenging but unforgettable.
