Series Fare Flight Ticket: What Series Fare Means and How Your Ticket Works
A series fare flight ticket is an airline ticket issued on a seat from a block bought ahead on a set flight and date, sold at one fixed price until that date is full. In simple terms, series fare means the seat was part of a series, the same seats on the same flight across many dates, rather than a seat priced live at the moment you search.
Once issued, a series fare ticket is a normal airline ticket. It sits on a confirmed airline PNR, you receive an e-ticket by email, and you fly on the same aircraft and seat class as everyone else on the flight. The differences are in the price, which stays fixed on each date, and in the rules, which are usually stricter than on a regular published fare.
What is series fare in flight booking?
Airlines release part of their capacity in series, often for holiday seasons, long weekends or busy Gulf months. Those seats are bought in bulk and offered on our Special Fixed Departure pages with a limited seat count per date. Because the seats were bought ahead, a series fare is often cheaper than the live price in peak season, but not always. On quiet dates a normal fare can cost less, which is why we show both and let you compare with Show all fares.
What your series fare ticket looks like
- Airline PNR: a six-character booking reference from the airline, used for check-in and to look up your booking.
- E-ticket: emailed to you after payment, showing passenger names, flight numbers, dates, times and the PNR.
- Baggage line: the checked and cabin baggage allowance for your fare, which varies by airline and route.
- Fare and taxes: the total you paid for each passenger.
The ticket is issued against the confirmed PNR after your online payment goes through the payment gateway. Keep the email and a copy of the e-ticket on your phone.
Check-in on a series fare ticket
You check in with the airline in the normal way. Web check-in is usually available on the airline's website or app using your PNR and surname, within the window the airline sets before departure. On some series bookings online check-in may not open, or seat selection may be limited or charged; if that happens, simply check in at the airport counter with your ID or passport and the e-ticket. Arrive early, especially for international flights, as the airline's counter closing times apply to everyone.
Restrictions to know before you buy
- Usually non-refundable: cancelling normally means losing the fare, though some taxes may be refundable under the airline's rules.
- Name changes are usually not allowed, so names must match the passport or government ID exactly.
- Date changes are usually not allowed or are limited, because the seat belongs to one date in the series.
- Baggage is shown on each fare, so do not assume the allowance from an earlier trip.
- Airlines can reschedule or cancel flights; if they do, we contact you and help you rebook or claim a refund according to the airline's rules for that change.
How to read the fare rules
- Find the fare rules or fare details on the fare you picked; they show before payment.
- Read the cancellation line first and note whether anything is refundable.
- Check the change line for dates and names, and whether any change is possible at all.
- Read the baggage line for both checked and cabin bags, per passenger.
- Compare the total price with a normal fare on the same flight using Show all fares, keeping the rules in mind.
- Pay only when you are happy that the rules suit your plans.
Who a series fare ticket suits best
Series fare tickets suit travellers whose dates are firm, such as families with booked hotels, people attending a wedding or festival, or workers returning to the Gulf on a set date. If your plans may change, a normal fare with flexible rules can be the better choice even at a higher price. For 10 or more passengers, ask for a separate negotiated group fare. Travel agents can book series fare tickets for their customers at net fares through our free B2B portal, after a simple registration and KYC check.
