Dochula Pass

A mountain pass at about 3,100 m on the road from Thimphu to Punakha, known for its 108 memorial chortens. On clear days it offers sweeping views of the eastern Himalayan peaks.

💡 Tip: Mornings in winter give the clearest mountain views; carry a warm layer as it is windy and cold at the top.

Thimphu is Bhutan's capital, a small and relaxed city set in a pine-covered valley along the Wang Chhu river. It mixes grand dzongs, monasteries and craft schools with cafés and markets, and famously has no traffic lights.
