Paro is a green valley in western Bhutan that is home to the country's international airport. Traditional farmhouses, Rinpung Dzong and the cliffside Tiger's Nest monastery make it one of the most scenic stops on any Bhutan trip.
Bhutan's most famous monastery, perched on a sheer cliff about 900 m above the Paro valley. Legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress to meditate. The hike up through pine forest is challenging but very rewarding.
One of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan at around 3,900 m, between the Paro and Haa valleys. Strung with prayer flags, it offers views of Mount Jomolhari on clear days.
