Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur (Rajasthan) is one of the world's most important bird sanctuaries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just 180 km from Delhi via Agra Expressway, it's an easy and rewarding day trip for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The park hosts over 370 resident and migratory bird species — including the endangered Siberian Crane (October–March).
Painted Stork, Spot-billed Duck, Sarus Crane (world's tallest flying bird), Siberian Crane (winter), Asian Open-bill Stork, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Imperial Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Indian Roller, Kingfisher, and 370+ other species depending on season.
October–March (winter) is the best season — migratory birds including Siberian Cranes arrive from Russia and Central Asia. Resident birds are present year-round. Monsoon (July–September) brings lush greenery and waterbirds but the paths can be muddy.
Bharatpur is 180 km from Delhi (3 hours via Yamuna Expressway and NH-21). The park gate is in Bharatpur town, 55 km from Agra — Bharatpur can be combined with an Agra day trip (Taj Mahal) for those with 2 days.
